Melonie Murray over at SmallBizMentor has a great post on the battle for sales leads between two educational franchise giants, Kumon and Sylvan.
When you think about the topic of "sales leads", its tempting to think of massive lists with thousands of names - present to thousands, and hopefully a few dozen buy what you're selling. But in the franchise world, you're searching for specific, highly qualified prospects. Once you find one, it can be gold. Both Kumon and Sylvan are the two heavyweights in this category, and I think the internal competition for a qualified prospect must be incredible to behold.
Sales leads can number in the dozens just as easily in the thousands, depending upon your business and industry. Great topic, Melonie.

Glad you liked the topic, Dan! I've always found franchises that can bank on education and parenting objectives quite interesting...I wonder sometimes if they draw in buyers who normally wouldn't consider themselves to be entrepreneurial, but instead choose the franchise because it's related to a passion of theirs, such as children's gymnastics, music lessons, etc.
