I like Ron McDaniel's posts over at Buzzoodle, and he has a good one about how to create buzz (and, potentially, sales leads) by being what he terms a "peripheral host". What is it? How will it help you? ...

The woman pictured above...take a good look at her. Does she look like a sales professional? Does she fit the stereotype? Do you think you could out-sell her and bring in more sales leads than this kindly older woman...

1. Do something stupid that makes you the laughing stock on a widely read blog like Seth Godin's. Jump the gun too soon, and all that work is down the drain. 2. Do something stupid that makes you look cheap...

Sales reps LOVE sales leads. But I've seen my share of leads provided turning into leads wasted (and, in all honesty, I've done my fair share of the wasting!). The reason? Sales leads are new life...fresh possibilities...hope renewed. But then...

Sales leads from references and word-of-mouth are gold. They're the best kind of sales lead. Don't believe me? OK, believe a really interesting, solid-from-top-to-bottom study on word of mouth communication from Northeastern University. Read it here. It's fascinating....
