I ran over to a nearby Jamba Juice to get a smoothie.
Up on the wall, there was a giant map of Bakersfield with hundreds of little pins scattered all over the map. Below the map was the message, "Tell us where you live so that we can put a Jamba Juice in your neighborhood".
I think that's smart, on a couple of fronts:
- The store owner gets valuable feedback on where his customers reside (turns out they get customers from a 30 mile radius).
- The store owner has happy customers give him valuable sales lead information while they wait for their smoothie.
- The store owner gets valuable information on the possible placement of his next store.
- The store owner's customers feel empowered to have a say in how where the next store opens.
Sales leads don't always have to come from a list. Valuable information is yours for the taking if you give your customers a chance to have a little fun and take a second to provide you with information you can use to grow your business. Well done, Jamba Juice.

Another marketing idea that is brilliant! It's always wonderful to hear about quirky new marketing methods that companies are implementing, and judging by the way things are going now, I think my own industry - life insurance - will end up implementing equally quirky marketing methods of their own. Got to admit though, it would definitely take a lot of creativity on the part of the life insurance marketing people!
