
The publicity has been unreal over the purchase of the Wall Street Journal by media tycoon Rupert Murdoch.
I've made the point that the fuss is largely political, but lets put that aside for a moment and focus on the fact that his business now controls the business side of the newspaper. So, what now?
I'll tell you what: Look for profits to go up, and for new sales and advertising opportunities in the paper to arise because of the purchase. Almost everything Murdoch touches turns to gold, and I see no difference here as he takes control of the WSJ.
Publicity can be a great lead generator. Murdoch has been a master at fostering publicity over this particular business deal, and it will help him invigorate the stodgy financial mainstay.
