It would take the right kind of business, but another overlooked source of high-traffic, inexpensive promotional advertising space are bulletin boards.
Grocery stores, drug stores, Walmart, and other major chains often supply an open board for people to post things. Anything, really. You see a lot of ads for free guitar lessons, local classes that are being offered, etc.
But who is to say that you can't offer coupons for your business?
Like I said, you have to offer the right kind of service to meet that audience need that's reading the bulletin board. But if that's your market, then you'll be reaching them in a high-traffic, inexpensive way.
Writing this reminds me of a post I wrote about a year ago about a bulletin board I saw on vacation while doing some laundry at a laundromat. It was wild! It was also a lot of fun to read (below is the picture I took of my contribution to the board, advertising my other blog here on KMM, LandingTheDeal).
