In these turbulant times in the home loan market, home builders are getting creative to generate buzz and bring in new buyers.
Case in point: K. Hovnanian Homes.
They're promoting their "Deal of the Century" this weekend, and to be honest with
you it's a creative, ambitious idea that is designed to get the attention of buyers nationally. Here's what is going on:
In a move that sounds a bit like close-out sales at auto dealerships, K. Hovnanian Homes is holding a nationwide promotion this weekend, throwing in extras like plasma TVs in some markets, and slashing prices by at least $100,000 in others.
The sale, dubbed “The Deal of the Century,” starts today and lasts through Sunday, Sept. 16, according to a press release from the company. Sales centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. all weekend.
In the Tucson area, the special offer will include upgraded appliances, landscaping, a 42-inch plasma TV, mini blinds and $5,000 toward closing costs.
In higher-priced markets, such as California and New York, the builder is cutting prices by $100,000 or more for the weekend, according to wire reports.
You're never too big, never too stuffy, never too "corporate" to get creative when business is slow and you need to generate sales leads!

Wow, talk about giving it all for a lead! It also has to make you wonder about their profit margins if they can offer these types of incentives, doesn't it? Now, how about if they offer to pay homeowners insurance and taxes... not everybody needs a plasma TV.
