People are having a good laugh over a Japan government website that is trying to encourage people to join the fight over global warming by offering half-price Big Macs to web visitors.
Here's how it works: You log on, check some boxes that confirms you'll fight global warming, and then receive a special code that gets you a Big Mac for half-price.
The website has crashed several times because of everyone rushing to the site to get their discount hamburger...I mean, "fight global warming".
The irony in this story is thicker than a McDonalds milkshake. The same people
are passionate about global warming are probably also against corporate mega-giant McDonalds and all of the good red meat they fry up for people.
On top of that, after they print off their coupon code they do...what? That's right. They hop in their car and drive. Which pollutes the air. The poor global warming folks can't get a break.
Are people flocking to the website to commit to global warming? Of course not. They're lining up to get a cheap burger.
Stupid politics. Great sales promotion!

Save the Baby Seals... with a Big Mac!
Wow. That is a stretch, indeed. At least the Japanese have good public transportation to use on the trek that leads to the Golden Arches, maybe they can cut greenhouse gases that way? The only good insurance that the environment has from this promotion is that people a half a world away are reading it... and chuckling!
