When was the last time you bought fruit over the Internet?
That's what the Maui Pineapple Company is asking customers, and encouraging them to try bying online. They're launching a big promotion to get people to buy their delicious Maui Gold pineapples. Instead of focusing their sales lead efforts through stores and traditional distribution lines, the nearly 100-year old company is trying to increase brand awareness via the Internet.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for consumers throughout the country to get a taste of Hawaii. This tropical delight will not only bring back many fond memories of their trip to Maui, but will also bring the taste of Maui to those who have not yet traveled to the Valley Isle," said Howard Nager, Maui Pineapple Company vice president sales and marketing. "Since pineapples are the symbol of hospitality, this delicious gift is a great idea that can be sent to relatives or friends for most any occasion or special event."
Maui Gold pineapple is a special hybrid variety of fruit developed and harvested only by Maui Pineapple Company in Hawaii. Maui Gold has a rich golden color, incredibly sweet flavor, low acid content and contains three times the Vitamin C of a traditional pineapple.
They're offering big discounts on their Maui Gold pineapples when purchased online. Online shoppers can save $10 on a six-pack or $5 on a two-pack of Maui Gold pineapple by entering the following promotional codes at checkout: HANGTAG6 on six-pack orders, or HANGTAG2 on two-pack orders.
All of this is an effort to generate buzz, create brand awareness, and get new customers. They're taking a creative and non-traditional approach to all of this, which is good to see from a company that has been around for so long. Sometimes pushing the edges is the best way to generate new customer leads, which is something that the Maui Pineapple Company recognizes.

Leads my mouth to water, just thinking about those pineapples! It's great when old companies get on board with utilizing the internet to increase their sales and try to add some insurance of growth and development in the digital age. I hope that this venture is successful for them.
